How Do I Get My Business Noticed In An Inexpensive Way?
You’ve got everything rolling now and it’s time to drum up some business. Just where do you start to build a customer base? Well, you need to start off by making a few sacrifices if you can at first. Word of mouth will earn you the biggest points. In my business ventures, free was the magic word for the first year.
If you give something that won’t cost you anything or very little except your time, you will reap the rewards in time.
I was starting out with my DJ business and luckily I had a few jobs right off the bat. But I really needed to get bookings fast. So I would call the area schools and donate my services for an amount of time every so often, or to a local charity event. Eventually the calls and word of mouth started coming in. I had excellent referrals and repeat business.
If you know where to look you’ll find endless customer relationships.
During the course of building the business I broadened my horizons to find the places that I would reap the most rewards from. Those would be Country Clubs and Banquet Halls. Once you start doing events for these places the referrals start flying in the door.
Don’t expect everything you do to be perfect.
You’re not always going to do everything right all the time. You do however need to stay focused on doing your best every time no matter what mood you are in. Leave work at work and home at home. Stay in tune with the task at hand and remember that the customer is always right.
Try free website submission tools.
You can find these tools by searching for them on any search engine. I don’t recommend that you use the free tools for an extended period of time because you cannot guarantee your results this way. A paid service in the future will give you much better results if you are promoting a website.
Print your own business cards.
You can find great colors of card stock that is in various thicknesses at many retailers. You can even create your cards online for much less than you would expect some printing services. Be creative but stick with the same logo and colors. People will begin to recognize and link your service to your cards.
Yellow book advertising or White Pages Directories are far cheaper than Newspapers.
Think about paying for advertising in a phone book. Your ad is there until that book is destroyed. A newspaper, it’s gone by the end of the week. If you are going to invest in any type of print advertising a phone directory is definitely the way to go. You will be so glad that you did.
Radio ads are great for blitzing sales.
Don’t use radio in excess unless you have something fantastic to give or a huge budget. Radio ads are hard to target an audience with a specific product. Besides, satellite radio is so in demand because of the commercial free music that we already know what people don’t want to hear, and that would be an ad. Aim for something people want to look for, like a phone directory.
Spread the word with a press release.
Many local newspapers are willing to support new businesses. Call every paper in your are that you are serving to get an interview about your business. Publicity will help and make sure that all your vital information is in the article. Have all your contact information handy and have some sort of common bond that you can share with readers to attract them to your business. Tell them why you started it and they will take interest.
These tips should help you get started for now. You will not make tons of money in the beginning but with hard work and determination, you can make your business work. Good luck!
